MULTI-CLASS ATHLETES
Ipswich Little Athletics feel that our Multi-Class athletes deserve the same opportunities in our sport as their able-bodied peers. We aim to provide an inclusive environment in which barriers to involvement are removed and all athletes with varying impairments feel welcome and comfortable to participate.
We have appointed a Multi-Class coordinator to assist these athletes to maximise their participation in our sport, to achieve their goals and to have plenty of fun. We have developed a specific program designed to help them improve their skills.
We also recognise that some athletes will feel more comfortable competing in their age group with their able-bodied friends and that’s perfectly fine. However the option is there for them to compete as a Multi-Class cohort as well.
At the end of the season there will be trophies for the Most Improved Multi-Class athlete as well as a Multi-Class Age Champion.
It is important to note that to be eligible to be classified as a Multi-Class athlete you must fall into the Under 9 – 17 age category. The reason behind this is they become eligible to receive a classification from the relevant classifying body.
