Competition and Training

Competition nights

Competition nights are held every Friday night throughout the season with some exceptions. Timings are as follows:

  • Under 6-8 will start at 5pm. We aim to finish by 7pm
  • Under 9-17 will start at 6pm. We aim to finish by 8:30pm

The finish times above are a guide as nights can go longer depending on which events the age group is programmed for as well as how quickly athletes work through their events.

In the event of cancellation the committee will post on Facebook and Instagram by 4pm whether a competition night will be cancelled. If there is no announcement then assume the night will go ahead as per normal.

Training nights

The aim of our training sessions is to provide your athlete a basic understanding of the different technical aspects of athletics as well as to assist them in improving their skills and performances over the season. Training is held on Tuesday afternoons/evening. Timings are as follows:

  • Under 6-8 will start at 5pm and finish at 6pm.
  • Under 9-17 will start at 5:45pm and finish at 7pm

All of our coaches are volunteers and training is free. Some level of parent participation is expected especially with our younger age groups. Coaches are not babysitters. If you leave your child unsupervised they will not be permitted to train.

Any form of abuse toward our coaches (or any committee member) will not be tolerated.

In the event that there are not enough coaches or there is inclement weather, a notification will be posted on Facebook and Instagram by 4pm on Tuesday at the latest.
